Ladies day at the races is a time for glamour, glitz and silly hats. It is an age old tradition at main race events they have a Ladies day, with Cheltenham hosting theirs today. It's a great day out for people who are not hardened race goers, with champagne and the chance to win money whats not to like? Well other than the weather which is often a disaster there is much fun to be had not just by watching the races but also going to the different tents and watching the different entertainment that is laid on especially catered toward women.
So how do you dress to ensure you stand out and get noticed. Here are three different statements you can make with your outfit.
1. The Bold and Brassy
If you are going and want to be noticed the quickest way is to flash the flesh. Plunging necklines and short skirts are sure to grab the attention. The high heels may prove tricky if the ground is wet but what is fashion without a bit of pain.
This outfit says that your here for a laugh, but don't be fooled you have done this before so give me better odds than that Mr Bookie! No need for a hat a simple fascinator does the trick and doesn't distract from your new dress.
But remember this is predominantly an outdoor event, the winds are cold and the day is long so don't end up the day looking like a frozen mess. Take a jacket, or better yet have a nice gentleman that can lend you his!
2. The Innocent Newbie
As a first timer you should always go understated. Floral patterns are big this year and if you go low at the top never go short at the bottom, and vice verse. Holly Valance here in a gorgeous dress, matching
handbag and a lovely tailored jacket.
Here is an example of a three good looks, a patterned Maxi, a wraparound stripped block coloured dress and a belted high waisted dress. All examples of simply but classy outfits that won't attract the wrong sort of attention.
The queen of the innocent look is Coleen Rooney, who is dragged to racecourses all the time by her fanatical husband Wayne. She is seen here in a gorgeous bright and vibrant flower pattern dress that screams cuteness.
3. The Glamorous Gambler
If you want to be taken seriously then your style says it all. Big hats and tailored dresses are the answer. Give the impression of a serious race goer with this glamourous look that is sure to score you some better odds from the bookies.
Of course glamorous can still have vibrant colours and the one shoulder dress seems to be a popular choice for many experience race going ladies.
Skirts should always be below the knee and you can accessorize these outfits with vibrant splashes of
chunky jewellery and bright Handbags.
Have fun and remember your Hat!
