You can keep your Hat on!

With the summer heatwave it is all to easy to get burned by the sun, spending days out we all know to cover up with sun cream. But all too often we forget to cover our heads, not wishing to smear sun cream in our hair you may find those partings become red and sore, and the flaky scalp due to skin peeling is never a good look. So picking a hat for those nice days out is a must!

Baseball Caps

These caps can look great with a casual outfit, with bold messages or vibrant colours. Coupled with boyfriend jeans or dungarees and a loose fitting top this can look casually cool.

Rapper Caps

Flat rim caps are the summer hot trend in hats, with a massive wide selection of different bold statements. These caps are great for protecting your head and shading your eyes.

Festival Hats

These bucket hats with all round rimmed hats make the perfect headgear accessories. Not just to be confined to the fenced of music events of the summer these hats are great come rain or shine!

Visors

Visors are super cool, but remember they don't shade the top of your head so make sure you don't get burned in your parting.

Straw Hats

Straw hats may be old fashioned but with some excellent flower patterns these hats can be great.

Fragrant Moments

Remember that time where you passed someone in the street and thought I know that fragrance or when you were out with friends and admired a new perfume they were wearing.  Smell connects us with many old memories and connects us to many new ones.   Childhood ones of the way your mum smelt when she hugged you or the smell of candy floss at the funfair.   You can’t beat the smell of a new baby or freshly cut grass on a summer’s day or your partner’s aftershave.

We each have our own favourites and when we choose a fragrance it’s because it makes us feel good.  Fragrance is the last accessory to add to an outfit and most of us girls won’t go out without a spray or dab of perfume.

Do you stick to the favourite perfume you have used for years or do you try out every new fragrance that comes onto the market?

Carven Le Parfum is a summery new perfume ideally suited to wearing with a fun summer playsuit.

Why not match Chanel 1932, a fruity floral scent, with a summer maxi dress for that sophisticated, cool look.

The craft of making perfume (perfumery) began with the ancient Egyptians and was modified through time by the Romans, Persians and Arabs.  The history of perfume in the UK began in London and was particularly popular during the reign of Elizabeth 1 when women created their own fragrances to wear.    France quickly became known as the perfume and cosmetic centre and during the renaissance perfume was used to mask body odours as it replaced soap and water.   Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour were known for their love of perfume and today France still remains at the centre of the perfume industry.

In Britain today our current new designers are developing perfume ranges with Stella McCartney creating a floral light fragrance in her Summer Eau de Parfum.  From Kate Moss’s Love Blossoms to David Beckhams’s Instinct Ice the celebs are caught in the craze to have their own perfume.  Perfume design has moved from the traditional floral bouquet to the more modern bright floral like Estee Lauder’s Beautiful.  Although many popular perfumes like Chanel No. 5 stand the test of time and are still very much in demand.

So why not put on that favourite outfit and tinkle a few drops of perfume behind your ears and go and make some memories.

Festival fashion fun - Look good this Summer

This weekend the T in the park Festival at Balado, Kinross-shire takes place across three days.  There are nine stages in the arena and four more in the campsite which gives a choice of approx. 180 artists to listen to.

With all these venues to choose from have you chosen your Festival gear yet?

A t-shirt or loose fitting tank paired with Denim shorts and a short boot with a low heel will keep your legs looking great.

A bikini top underneath your tee and you are ready to catch a few summer rays.

Don’t forget to accessorize with layers of colourful bracelets and necklaces and add some awesome earrings to finish the look.

Other essentials include a lightweight blanket to cuddle up on, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and a summer bag to carry it all.   Oh and of course a tent!

With Mumford & Sons, the Script, Stereophonics, Rita Ora, Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris playing over the weekend all you need to do now is turn up, pitch your tent and enjoy the music.

What to wear to the Golf? - Muirfield Open

With the 2013 Open Championship being held at Muirfield in Gullane, East Lothian this year from 14th to 21st July and the good weather forecast to continue planning ahead can ensure you have an enjoyable day out on the course – well depending on how your favourite player is performing.

The most important thing to plan for, especially for women, is the footwear.  High heels may be glamorous for an evening out but try walking round 18 holes on a golf course and you will struggle.  A pair of sandals will be nice and cool in the hot weather or why not try a small heeled wedge for a more fashionable look. Whatever you decide make sure they are comfortable as you may walk quite some distance throughout the day.

A pair of light trousers or long shorts paired with a polo shirt is acceptable dress for women on a golf course. Cool summer dresses with sandals will also be seen at golfing events in the summer. It is considerate to the players to wear light colours and not brightly distracting colours.

If it is hot have a large bag to hold your sunscreen, hat and glasses and bottle of water.  Take a waterproof jacket as it is a Scottish summer we are talking about!

As stated above polo shirts are ideal to wear and you could show your support for your favourite player by having your own logo created on a polo shirt or a hat at Dunbar T-shirt shop.

Muirfield have hosted the Open Championship 17 times with St. Andrews hosting the most at 27.

The Silver Claret Jug or the Golf Champion Trophy will be awarded to the winner at the end of the tournament.    So whether you are supporting Scottish Amateur champion Grant Forrest or American Tiger Woods and whatever you decide to wear we hope you have a lovely day.    If past Opens are anything to go by then we are in for some excellent golf and lots of exciting, nail biting finishes.

How to look good doing summer sports

The summer brings with it a multitude of wardrobe dilemmas, from warm days to summer rain you often find yourself carrying a bag full with another outfit just in case. With Summer comes sport, tennis, cricket and water-sports are all in full flow.

So how do you remain looking you're best when you will be playing a high intensity sport? Here's some tips:

1. Make sure it's White or Black

Sweat stains look good on nobody, and whilst your playing in the sun it is all too common a sight. Ensure your clothes are either White or dark coloured to ensure the sweat stains don't show up. Also choosing the right fabrics is important, cotton absorbs the sweat but polyester will allow air to pass through the material and will reject the sweat.

2. Headband or towel to keep the sweat away

Headbands are a great way to keep your hair out your face, but also help to soak up the sweat from your forehead. They can add a splash of colour to your look and make the blank white outfit have a sparkle of vibrant colour.

3. Invest in some shorts

If you are wearing a skirt, ensure you have some cycling shorts under, this makes it more comfortable to give your all without worrying about wardrobe malfunctions. When sporting having cycling shorts can be used for multitude of different outfits.

4. Keep that cardigan close at hand

Whilst the sun is shining, you won't have to worry, but if the weather darkens or as it gets later in the day a nice cardigan is a great way to keep warm.

5. Beach Bags hold all

A beach bag is a must for anyone sporting in the summer, large bags help to hold all your items, from sun cream to sun glasses.
